Safe Place: The Center for Child Protection and Health
Safe Place: The Center for Child Protection and Health is the region's most comprehensive program to address child abuse, neglect and placement in out-of-home care. Our mission is to provide evidence-based, trauma-informed care — both physical and emotional — to children with suspected maltreatment, and to also support their families. Our care includes:
- Evaluating concerns of child maltreatment
- Providing specialized care for victims of sexual assault and sex trafficking
- Screening foster care youth for medical and behavioral conditions and coordinating their healthcare needs
With the care and interventions we offer, children who have experienced tremendous adversity can begin the process of healing and restoring their childhood.

Our advocacy work
To help children, families and the community, we bring our expertise to situations such as courtrooms and legislative bodies. We:
- Help maltreated children by participating in case reviews and court testimony for child welfare, law enforcement and the legal community
- Offer medical expertise for community partners to aid decision-making about maltreated children
- Influence policies at the local and state government levels
