The Orthopedic Trauma Program provides expert evaluation and treatment of all musculoskeletal injuries of the limb and spine. Our orthopedic surgeons are part of a specialized trauma team that provides total care for every aspect of your child’s injury, from prevention through treatment and rehabilitation.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the first accredited pediatric Level I Trauma Center in eastern Pennsylvania. Level I status means your child will have 24/7 access to a coordinated team of orthopedic physicians and surgeons, neurosurgeons, emergency physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists and support staff. Together, we treat thousands of injured children each year.

Children are not mini adults and their treatment after a trauma requires specialized knowledge of children’s growing bones. Our trauma team is here to help.

How we serve you

We offer expert on-site radiologic and diagnostic services, including low-dose EOS imaging; an onsite cast room, staffed by orthopedic technicians experienced in working with even the smallest patients; an in-house brace shop to design custom braces; as well as physical therapy and rehabilitative services.

Conditions we treat

We treat children and adolescents with all types of traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, including the following.
