The International Adoption Health Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) supports families adopting a newborn or older child from all pathways, both international and domestic, including United States foster care. We strive to meet the needs of both your family and your adoptive child through the entire adoption process. We offer counseling and health evaluation services. For example, we:

  • Help parents make an informed decision about a potential adoption and then prepare for bringing the child home
  • Help children adjust to their new family
  • Support children and families if they're faced with longer-term challenges

Our caring team is here to offer your family guidance during the transition phase of the adoption process and beyond.

How we serve you

We offer pre-adoption counseling to help parents prepare, post-adoption counseling to help the entire family adjust, and therapy for children who have special healthcare and developmental needs or who may have experienced abuse or neglect. Learn about the services we offer.
