Pediatric Transplant Center Financial Counseling

Looking to reach a financial counselor related to services other than Transplant? View billing and insurance information here or call our Pre-Visit Financial Counseling Hotline at 1-800-664-7855.

The Transplant Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has a dedicated financial counselor. Our counselor will work with you and your insurance company to obtain detailed insurance benefits for all aspects of the transplant process, including:

  • Outpatient prescription drugs
  • Follow-up clinic visits
  • Travel and housing
  • Maximum benefit restrictions

Our financial counselor will also assist you with alternative funding options for any out of pocket expenses, denied services or general financial questions. In coordination with your insurance company and our billing office, we'll work to resolve any billing issues that may arise during the transplant process.

The financial counselor also works very closely with social workers to help you plan for the cost of a transplant. They will help you with application processes for Family Health Coverage Programs, which include Medicaid and/or Financial Assistance. Eligibility is based on income guidelines.

Call the financial counselor if you:

  • Have questions about your transplant insurance benefits-deductibles, co-insurance and pre-certification requirement
  • Are denied coverage for a transplant
  • Do not have insurance
  • Have questions about travel and housing coverage

If you have any questions or concerns, please call Traci Smith, Transplant Financial Counselor, at 215-590-4346 or send an e-mail to SmithT22@chop.edu.
