Lipid Heart Clinic

Elevated lipids, particularly cholesterol, put young people at risk for heart disease later in life. The Cardiac Center's Lipid Heart Clinic evaluates and treats children and adolescents up to 18 years of age who have high levels of lipids (fats) in their blood. The clinic is part of CHOP's Preventative Cardiovascular Program. Our ultimate goal is to reduce your child's risk for early cardiovascular disease.

Through the Lipid Heart Clinic, your family will receive information on ways to improve your child's cholesterol levels, mainly with dietary and lifestyle changes. Our team offers customized dietary recommendations, as well as the support and guidance your family needs to make healthy lifestyle changes. In some cases, we may prescribe cholesterol-lowering medication as well.

At the Lipid Heart Clinic, we understand that each child is different. Our team of dedicated cardiologists, endocrinologists, nutrition physicians, and dietitians work together to create a personalized treatment plan for each child. We believe combining the expertise of medical doctors and licensed dietitians offers your child the best possible treatment for lowering lipid levels.
