Division of Anatomic Pathology

The Division of Anatomic Pathology offers state-of-the-art consultative services and clinical diagnostic testing that is second-to-none. Our facilities include a full range of the most technologically advanced equipment, which has enabled our group to positively impact diagnostic outcomes for patients. Our lab is staffed by highly experienced, board certified pathologists specializing in all aspects of pediatric pathology.

For our CHOP patients, we offer diagnostic services for all tissue specimens removed by surgeons and clinicians at CHOP. We also perform consultative and second opinion services for institutional clients in the United States as well as worldwide.

Our domestic and foreign consultation service provides diagnoses and second opinions on a broad variety of specimens sent to our pathologists who collectively cover all areas of pediatric pathology. Specialties include

Perinatal and placental pathology
Hematopathology
Gastrointestinal
Neuropathology

The senior personnel in the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory—all with advanced medical and scientific training—work closely with physicians, institutions and other healthcare providers to determine which tests are most desirable and which are unwarranted. This collaborative approach is designed to assist providers in selecting the most relevant, cost-effective course of action for their patients.
