Core Laboratory Services
The Core Laboratory at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) combines the Chemistry Laboratory, Hematology Laboratory and Coagulation Laboratory to offer core laboratory testing to support patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and utilize state-of-the-art automated instrumentation to provide high-quality and reliable testing for CHOP’s patients, processing over 1 million samples annually across many different tests. We are staffed by dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientists and Technical Specialists, who possess a unique pediatric laboratory testing expertise and skills.
- The Chemistry Laboratory offers testing services on electrolyte and metabolic panels, liver and kidney function panels, proteins and enzymes, lipids, endocrinology, acid-base disorders, therapeutic drug monitoring, toxicology screening, and sweat testing.
- The Hematology Laboratory offers testing services on blood counts, urinalysis, body fluid counts, hemoglobinopathies and Bone Marrows.
- The Coagulation Laboratory offers routine to highly specialized and unique tests for the patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
