They work alongside healthcare professionals, help in clinical and non-clinical areas, and support the Hospital's mission to care for not just the patient, but the entire family.
Volunteer at the Hospital
Volunteer Services at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia offers opportunities for all different types of volunteer work. Through a regular volunteer placement, volunteers are required to provide service hours a minimum of once a week for a period of 3 hours.
Volunteers over the age of 18 who are not enrolled in college and who are able to make a significant time commitment may be a fit for the adult volunteer program. There are many different ways that our adult volunteers can compliment professional services in our patient care areas and provide support to our patients and families.
College student volunteers work at the Main Welcome Desk, Wood Welcome Desks, and Emergency Department, where they give a warm welcome to all patient families, evaluate limited visitation needs and guests with directions to get to where they're going.
We offer a limited number of spots each summer for volunteers between the ages of 16 and 18 who are enrolled in high school who want to give of their time while gaining valuable hands-on experience and educational opportunities within a medical setting.
Are you and your dog currently certified by Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, Therapy Dogs Inc or Comfort Caring Canines? If so, you might be a fit for pet therapy volunteering.
Are you or your group interested in a one-time volunteer opportunity? Since much of our daily programming allows ample craft and play opportunities, we welcome your creativity in proposing a visit which will provide our patients with a unique and memorable activity.

The Lynn Saligman League is a volunteer group with more than 150 members that hosts patient parties, in-house day camp, bingos, bake sales, golf outings and many large events. The group has raised millions to help strengthen the Hospital’s core programs and fuel groundbreaking research.
